Yoga made accessible for Each and Every Body.
Yoga made accessible for Each and Every Body.
Welcome to my little corner of the internets.
I’m Bella, a native of Nature’s Little Secrets, the picturesque British Virgin Islands (“BVI”).
In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria barreled through my home ripping the country I knew and loved to pieces. My sense of security disappeared overnight. As a collective, we spent the weeks that followed frantically restoring our country to some semblance of normalcy, the new Post-IrMaria normal. This new-norm didn’t include running water for most, and electricity at home was a thing of yesteryears.
BVIslanders (the people of the BVI) are resilient.
During the months that followed, I picked up the pieces of my life and kept moving forward. It wasn’t until the spring of 2018 that I was ready to face the anxiety and trauma of living through some of the strongest hurricanes to make landfall. That’s how I found* yoga.
Yoga found me when I needed a way to escape from the world around me. What I didn’t know then was that I wasn’t trying to escape the world, I was running from the anxiety and trauma of the hurricanes that I hadn’t coped with. Yoga taught me to reconnect with myself.
Every time I’ve needed to disappear from the physical I’ve turned to yoga. I’ve turned to my breath.
About this space:
Yoga
When I started my practice in the BVI, I was privileged to be surrounded by a community that made me feel welcomed just as I was. However, this was not my first experience with yoga. I know what it’s like to feel unwelcomed and unworthy of this practice. In short, my hope for this space is to provide easy to follow instructions and make yoga accessible for everyone.
Yoga is for everybody. That includes the bodies and skin tones that don’t fit into some brands target markets and aesthetics.
Wellness
While I’m against “diet culture”, I’m still supportive of living a healthy life. The wellness section of my site will share recipes, tips, and inspiration on improving your overall relationship with food and wellness.
Lifestyle
Sustainability, fashion, hair, pretty much everything else will fall under this section. This site will grow with me.
My Certifications:
After completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training in April 2020, I became a registered yoga teacher.
